The New York State Board of Law Examiners (NYSBOLE) has specific minimum test dates that are required for each state before you need to take your NCLEX examination. New York is one of two states that require these minimums before you can take the examination. For the State of New York, you must have completed high school, have a Bachelor’s degree or better, and at least a passing grade on your high school algebra course. For students who have achieved an Associate’s degree, you must have finished at least half of your college degree, including general education courses.
If you don’t meet all of these requirements, you will need to start your studies as soon as you finish the complete high school diploma. At this point, it is possible to take your NCLEX examination while working towards your high school diploma. If you are in New York and you still want to take your exam after you complete your completion of high school, you’ll need to obtain your GED first. Taking your NCLEX examination after completing your GED is only possible if you can meet the NYSBOLE test minimums.
You may find it necessary to contact your New York school district to see if they can help you take your NCLEX exam. Some districts do allow students to take their exam while in the process of completing their high school diploma, but the only way to take your test and pass is if you can demonstrate to the district that you are ready for the exam.
The best thing you can do to make sure you can take your NCLEX exam when you are ready is to take care of all your pre-requisites. For example, if you have completed your high school degree, you should be able to demonstrate your academic skills on your GED application, and you should have a great grade to show the district that you are ready for the exam.
You may also have an opportunity to take your NCLEX exam before you’ve graduated from high school. Although the state minimums are different in every state, you should still be able to take your exam in the following states before you are allowed to graduate: Delaware, Florida, Georgia, Idaho, Kansas, Kentucky, Massachusetts, Michigan, Missouri, Montana, Nebraska, Nevada, New Hampshire, North Carolina, Ohio, Oklahoma, South Carolina, Tennessee, Virginia, and West Virginia.
If you are going to need some extra preparation, you can also take an NCLEX preparation course before you take your test. There are also online training courses that you can take to help you prepare for your exam.

While taking an NCLEX preparation course may help you prepare for your exam, it may not be enough. It is possible to study for the exam and then take a NCLEXexam right before you take your actual test.
